This should be interesting.

Well, we(meaning Nicole, Ron, and I) had our appointment with the ENT today. It was determined that, yes, it is indeed time to yank Nicole's tonsils and adenoids. I was hoping, despite the three years of huge tonsils, strep throat infections, and obstructive sleep apnea that we wouldn't have to take this step, but nope....it's time. STINK!

I'm scared for my little girl to have surgery, with an IV, ET tube, and anesthesia...and I'll be sitting in a waiting room somewhere not knowing what is going on. Sometimes it stinks to have medical knowledge and experience....like when you want to know exactly what's going on with your loved one, and you get shuffled off to a waiting room to imagine all sorts of horrors. I didn't realize the extent of recovery either...no school for 7 days, then another 7 of no recess or P.E. The ENT even recommends that her patients have 24 hour parental supervision for a week after, just in case of hemorrhage...including at night. That'll be fun.

No idea when the date is....her offfice manager/scheduler was out sick today, so she'll call when she's back in the office, but it sounds like it'll be late March, possible April.

wow...

Hellooooo!

I'm back. We went on a long weekend-ish vacation with Carey and Doug and their fam. At the Great Wolf Lodge in Dallas...

Sorry about Nicole...We've come very close to having Conor's yanked out too...It is scary, but kids recover much better and quicker than adults. I was NEVER called in in the middle of the night for a hemorrhage on a child, it was ALWAYS adults for these surgeries...it's still scary to have your kids go under though...keep us posted when!

It's hard to see kids in pain and even harder to not know what's going on. Thankfully none of our kids have had surgery (yet) but I'm sure she will heal quickly and it will be worth it for her in the long run.

Oooh boy. T&A was no fun for us. You're in for quite a week or two. It was about 10 days of fun for Ethan before he was able to eat normally and sleep pretty well, but it was worth it. I promise. He's hardly been sick since then. I was going to go in and watch the procedure because Dr. Robbins said I could, but I chickened out at the last minute.

Who did you wind up going to?

Oh, I'm so sorry. It's awful to watch your child go through things when all you want to do is take it on yourself! I know how it is. I'm sure she'll be fine. If she's as stubborn as the rest of the family, then she'll be ready to go about 5 minutes after the anesthesia wears off!
