One of those Days

One of those days:

  • Kids don't want to go to school, including one who won't get up in time and is 30 minutes late to class.
  • Boy with way too much energy to listen to moms plea's to stop throwing the ball in the house and ends up knocking a digital picture frame off the back of the cabinet. I can't reach it.
  • Same boy that can't seem to turn off his bedroom light despite being sent to his room 4 times to do it, and he even made it back to his room all four times!
  • Phone call from dad telling me his woes about a girl that can't seem to shut the car door when she gets out to go to class.
  • Little girl that has tormented the puppy so much today that I have put him outside for his own (and my) sanity.
  • That I feel out of control for no particular reason.

This mornings emotions lead to some reflection, and this:
  • Thankful that the kids are healthy, and can go to school. Thankful that we are able to have a choice to send our kids to a school they love, with fun friends, and teachers that can pay attention to them individually and love them.
  • Hopeful that responsibility will click in an older child.
  • Thrilled my boy can run and play. Has the energy he needs to do everything and more of what he wants to.
  • Trying to feel blessed for the opportunity to learn more patience...because I need more of it....and beyond blessed to be the mother of these 4 children.
  • Happy that our girl is exuberant and is excited to see her friends.  Hopeful that she will remember, eventually, to close the car door.
  • Grateful that we found a very cute and patient puppy for our kids to be responsible for.
  • Happy that it is a warm day, that I can put the dog outside and he won't get too muddy.
  • Although I still feel out of control (because I can't control life), I can pull enough things together that I can feel composed and useful.
  • Happy to be healthy.
  • Happy I can help others through their trials.
  • Excited for General Conference this weekend, and not just because we can wear comfy clothes all Sunday.
  • Happy that plans for Spring Break came through. Hopeful that the sun will shine on us that week!
See.  Feeling better now. :)

What are you happy about today?

Nicole's Baptism Day

Okay, be prepared for picture overload.....I narrowed my favs down to a few, but there are still alot! We found Nicole's dress the week of her baptism, and I planned to take her out thinking it was going to be a bit warmer that day....then the weather changed and we had an arctic blast blow in! Think 20's with wind....and here's my poor girl in a short sleeved dress. :( We tried to do some pictures around the temple, but she was so cold she couldn't smile and her nose turned pink immediately! So we headed into the American Fork amphitheater which created a nice wind break and were able to get some good pictures there, thank goodness!

Her baptism day dawned cold, cold, and a tiny bit snowy. It was a beautiful day with family surrounding us to congratulate Nicole on her decision. I cried through my talk, Ron baptized and confirmed Nicole, and we headed home for a nice lunch with family. I am so blessed to be the mother of these children, and to be entrusted with their care and teaching upon this earth. I am also so thankful for my good husband, and that he is worthy to use the priesthood that he has been blessed with. It was a good day. A very good day. :)

I am indeed blessed

There is an amazing post I wanted to share that I read this morning. Although I am sure everyone in the blogosphere has read it. Here's a link in case you haven't. I read this, after following nienie before the accident, and then reading of progress over the last few months, and now watching her re-emerge today on her blog, and am overwhelmed with gratitude for my multitude of blessings.

Yesterday was a bad mommy day around here. My frustration of not enough time, too much clutter and toys not getting put away, and lots of whining combined with a splitting headache. Then I read the above mentioned post and realize how incredibly blessed I am every single day of my life. I have a fabulous husband. I have four great, healthy, and fun kids with amazing potential. I have my health. I am whole. I can take care of my family. I know who I am and what my potential is, and that I'm not living completely up to it. All I can do is go up! I can wake up each new day and do a little better.

So for the rest of the day, I'm not going to worry about the big zit on my chin, I'm going to help the kids clean up their toys instead of just nagging them about it, I'm going to hug them when the whining starts, and I'm going to go get a few more items to help a friend out with a very worthwhile project.
