Yep, I said it....the bad word.....cleaning! I'm doing it, and if you'd like to join in, feel free! :)
A couple of weeks ago, I went to Enrichment, and we had a guest speaker there about cleaning and organizing. Not only was she hilarious, she isn't perfect at it. In fact, she is going to try to help us get to where we all want to be in terms of organization by doing it right along with us, and blogging about it. :)
Her main emphasis, which I need desperately, is to purge all the junk and clutter and then organize the essential items left. I love it. I think I've realized a couple of things about myself....not only am I exactly like my father, in that I collect all the "gear" necessary for a hobby or project and then never do anything with said "gear" or hobby, but I also think I may border on that hoarding personality type. You know, those people you see on Oprah with the homes stacked to the rafters with stuff....so much stuff that they can't cook, and they think their husband left them three years ago only to find him buried in 5 feet of Styrofoam hamburger boxes.
But I'm not THAT bad! I can, and DO, eventually go through the various piles, stacks or boxes and throw everything out! And I've never lost a child, pet, or husband in stacks of trash. :) It seems though that I have lost myself somewhere along the way, and I want "me" back.
I think what has been bugging me the most is my craft room, which I have lately dubbed my "crap room". I have a number of things I've been wanting to work on, and be creative, and I can't due to the fact that I can't use my craft room. I could take a picture of it, but really, just these admissions in writing is embarrassing enough...I really don't need the world seeing the state of this room! But you can bet I will take pictures when it's organized. :)
Not only is the crap room out of control, but so are the kids rooms, and the playroom. So much so that there is no playing taking place there. Jared's room isn't bad anymore. Only because a few weeks ago I took every last toy out of there and put them all downstairs to further mess up the playroom. I thought it would teach him a lesson about keeping his stuff picked up. Turns out that he likes his room devoid of toys and doesn't want anything back in there except his BMX racing helmet.
It also helps that Mother Nature has decided that even though we have seen the passage of the first day of Spring.....that the weather isn't exactly coming to reflect said season. We have cold, snow, and storm after storm lined up...so since we are stuck inside bemoaning our fate of a return to winter, I might as well use the time wisely!
So, as Jodi begins her foray into organization, and helps us get there too, I am laying out an invitation for ANY of you who want to travel this road together to join her on her blog. Remember....comments do a body good, so let her know you are playing along!

Ditto sistah! Couldn't we just close our eyes and click our heels three times and have our homes clean and organized!!!??? Hey are you going to the reunion?
oohh....Thank you! Thank you! I'm excited to follow along. Does this mean you will come to my house and clean/organize for me?
Oh I SO need to do a massive cleaning. I kinda feel like I need to send the kids away for 2 solid days to really accomplish what I want to. Katie's just so *helpful*, if you know what I mean. I find that the clutter builds up and up and all the sudden I hit a point of AAUUUUUUGGHHHH!!! I CAN'T TAKE IT ANYMORE! I'm at that point.
Your "crap" room must be similar to our "PIT". I just can't face it.I still think it's Laynes responsibility. I get every other room in the house. Good luck, I can't wait to see the after.
Lucky me all my stuff is in storage, so no cleaning this year for me. I know you are jealous:)
Good Luck!
